Weather in Orlando: Arctic Blast Brings Freezing Temperatures

Orlando Weather Update: Prepare for a Deep Freeze

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is bracing for a significant drop in temperatures this week as a powerful Arctic air mass sweeps through the region. This will bring the coldest weather of the season, with a brief but intense chill before a welcome warmup later in the week. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions and potentially hazardous wind chills.

Cold Front Arriving This Weekend

A cold front is expected to move through Central Florida Sunday morning, clearing the area by mid-afternoon. Expect skies to clear from north to south, accompanied by breezy and noticeably cooler conditions. Any lingering showers will taper off by 1-2 PM across the FOX 35 Viewing Area, giving way to sunshine and cooler temperatures for the afternoon and evening.

Monday & Tuesday: The Peak of the Cold

The real chill sets in Monday night and persists through Tuesday. The wind will be blustery on Monday, creating brutal wind chills. High temperatures will be approximately 20°F below normal for this time of year. Tuesday will remain cold, with temperatures slightly warmer than Monday, but still around 15°F below average.

Freezing Temperatures and Advisories

Sunday night temperatures will plummet into the middle to upper 30s, with wind chills around freezing and below. Some areas northwest of Orlando could even see temperatures dip into the upper 20s. This has prompted the issuance of Cold Weather Advisories.

Monday afternoon will be bright but chilly, with highs only reaching the lower to middle 50s. Monday night into early Tuesday will be the coldest period of the week, with lows in the lower to middle 30s around the metro area. Northwest of Orlando, temperatures could fall below freezing, leading to Freeze Watches for Marion, Sumter, and Flagler counties, as well as FOX 51 locales in Alachua, Levy, and Gilchrist counties.

Warming Trend on the Horizon

Fortunately, relief is on the way! A warming trend is expected to begin mid to late week, with highs returning to the 80s by Thursday. This will provide a much-needed respite from the frigid temperatures.
