Jacksonville Weather Forecast: A Detailed Look Ahead

Jacksonville, Florida, residents can expect a varied weather pattern in the coming days. News4JAX Meteorologist Chris Holtzman provides a comprehensive overview of what to anticipate, from potential rainfall to rising temperatures and the persistent drought conditions affecting the region.

Tonight’s Forecast

Tonight will be mostly cloudy and cool, with temperatures dipping into the low 60s. Expect a comfortable, yet slightly chilly, evening.

Looking Ahead: Rainfall and Temperatures

The upcoming week brings the possibility of rainfall to the Jacksonville area. While not widespread, any precipitation is welcome news given the ongoing drought. An area of high pressure moving offshore will usher in an easterly wind, contributing to warmer temperatures.

  • Monday: Expect a mix of sun and clouds with isolated rain and storms. High of 78°F, low of 63°F. A HIGH rip current risk will be in effect due to stronger coastal winds.
  • Tuesday: Continued sunshine and clouds with isolated showers and storms. High of 81°F, low of 63°F.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny and dry. High of 83°F, low of 64°F.
  • Thursday: Partly cloudy and mainly dry. High of 84°F, low of 65°F.
  • Friday: Partly cloudy and mainly dry. High of 85°F, low of 66°F.

As the week progresses, temperatures will steadily climb into the 80s, with the chance of isolated showers and storms continuing through the weekend. Areas along and west of the St. Johns River have the highest probability of experiencing precipitation.

Drought Conditions in Jacksonville

Unfortunately, the latest drought monitor indicates a worsening situation. Most of the Jacksonville area remains under an extreme drought classification, and the area designated as experiencing an exceptional drought has expanded. Little to no improvement is anticipated in the short term. You can find more information about drought conditions and impacts from the U.S. Drought Monitor.
