Two Western Disturbances are active over the Western Himalayan region of India from February 13th to 16th. This is expected to bring rainfall and snowfall to the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir over the next two days. Meanwhile, temperatures are rising in central India, with Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh experiencing daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F).

Rising Temperatures in Central India

In Madhya Pradesh, over 15 cities recorded daytime temperatures above 30°C on Friday. Nighttime temperatures are also remaining above 10°C (50°F). Several cities in Uttar Pradesh have also crossed the 30°C mark, with Banda registering a maximum temperature of 31.2°C (88.2°F) and Prayagraj at 30.4°C (86.7°F). Chhattisgarh has seen an average temperature increase of 1-2°C. The highest maximum temperature in the state over the last 24 hours was 32.7°C (90.9°F) recorded in Jagdalpur.

Regional Weather Updates

  • Rajasthan: Light rainfall is likely in parts of Rajasthan. A slight drop in minimum temperatures was recorded on Friday due to partly cloudy skies.
  • Uttarakhand: Intense cold is affecting the higher altitudes of Uttarakhand. The minimum temperature in seven cities is below -10°C (14°F). Munsiyari recorded the lowest temperature at -26°C (-14.8°F), followed by Gangotri at -21°C (-5.8°F) and Badrinath at -19°C (-2.2°F).
  • Jharkhand: Over the past 24 hours, the minimum temperature in four districts of Jharkhand – Daltonganj, Khunti, Lohardaga, and Gumla – was recorded below 10°C (50°F).
  • Jammu & Kashmir: Light snowfall continues in the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir. The Mughal Road, connecting Kashmir to Jammu, remains closed due to several feet of snow.

Forecast for February 15-16

  • February 15th: Dense fog is expected in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of thunderstorms with rain in parts of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • February 16th: Rain and snowfall are likely in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

State-Specific Weather News

  • Madhya Pradesh: The weather is expected to change again from February 16th, with warm days and cold nights.
  • Chhattisgarh: Dry weather prevails, with temperatures rising by 2-3°C. Raipur is the hottest city at 32°C (89.6°F), while Ambikapur is the coldest.
  • Haryana: Rain is expected from February 17th due to the influence of a Western Disturbance. Seven districts have temperatures above 25°C (77°F).
  • Himachal Pradesh: A yellow alert for fog has been issued in the plains. The weather is expected to change from February 17th, with rain and snowfall in higher altitudes.
  • Uttarakhand: Rain and snowfall are possible from February 17th. Three cities have temperatures below -20°C (-4°F), with Munsiyari being the coldest.
  • Jharkhand: A clear and dry weather pattern is expected, with morning fog and sunny days.
  • Bihar: The weather is gradually normalizing, with a minimum temperature of 11°C (51.8°F).
  • Rajasthan: Rain is expected next week, particularly in Jaipur and Bikaner divisions.
  • Punjab: Cold winds are expected today, with a possibility of rain on February 17th.
