VGK Secures First Place: Golden Knights Shut Out Blackhawks 4-0
LAS VEGAS (AP) – The Vegas Golden Knights (VGK) delivered a commanding performance, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 on Saturday night. Pavel Dorofeyev led the charge with two goals and an assist, marking his second consecutive multi-point game. Adin Hill, meanwhile, secured his first shutout in over a year, solidifying the Golden Knights’ position at the top of the Pacific Division.
This victory propels the Golden Knights to 76 points, edging past Anaheim, who suffered a 2-0 loss to Ottawa. Rasmus Andersson and Keegan Kolesar also contributed goals for Vegas, while Mark Stone and Mitch Marner each tallied two assists. Jack Eichel, celebrating his 300th game with the Golden Knights, saw his three-game goal streak come to an end.
Dorofeyev’s Power Play Prowess & Hill’s Stellar Performance
Dorofeyev’s two power-play goals were particularly impactful, bringing his season total to a team-record 18 goals with the man advantage. He consistently exploited the Blackhawks’ typically strong penalty kill unit. Hill’s shutout, his first since March 13, 2025, was a testament to his resilience and sharp goaltending, stopping all 21 shots faced.
The game wasn’t without its dramatic moments. A potential Blackhawks goal by Artyom Levshunov in the third period was overturned after a successful challenge by Vegas, revealing a hand pass by Ryan Greene. Earlier, Golden Knights center Tomas Hertl showcased his defensive skills, preventing a goal by clearing Greene’s shot with Hill out of the net.
A Fast-Paced and Physical Game
The Golden Knights seized control early, scoring three goals within a 3.5-minute span in the first period. The game escalated in physicality, resulting in the ejections of Vegas’ Jeremy Lauzon and Chicago’s Ethan Del Mastro following roughing and misconduct penalties.
The night also held a special significance for veteran referee Wes McCauley, who officiated his 1,500th NHL game. He was honored during a stoppage in play, and the Golden Knights players extended their respect by shaking his hand after the final buzzer.
