Namibia vs Scotland: Rain Frustrates in League 2 Tri-Series

Windhoek, Namibia – The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series saw another match fall victim to the weather, as the contest between Namibia and Scotland ended in a frustrating no result on Monday. Scotland, already disappointed by a washed-out match against Oman earlier in the week, were left waiting in the wings as rain prevented them from batting after Namibia posted 189-8 in 46.4 overs.

Namibia’s Innings Highlighted by Steenkamp and Green

Opting to field first, Scotland initially made inroads, with Jack Jarvis dismissing WP Myburgh early for just one run. Namibia found themselves in a precarious position at 36-4. However, a resilient partnership between Louren Steenkamp, who top-scored with a well-made 78, and wicketkeeper Zane Green (62) revitalized the Namibian innings. Their combined effort significantly boosted the scoring rate and set a target of 190 for Scotland.

Jarvis was the pick of the Scottish bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 35 runs. Despite his efforts, Namibia managed to build a competitive total before the inclement weather intervened.

Scotland’s Tournament Position

This is the sixth abandoned match for Scotland in their 26 League 2 encounters – double the number of any other team in the competition. Currently sitting second in the table, they trail the United States by four points. The US have played two fewer games and haven’t had any matches abandoned, giving them a slight advantage in the standings.

Upcoming Fixtures

Scotland will look to get their campaign back on track when they face Oman on Wednesday. Namibia will then take on Oman on Friday, hoping to capitalize on their home advantage. The unpredictable weather conditions continue to be a significant factor in this Tri-Series.
