Flyers Ink Promising Prospect Jack Berglund to Three-Year Deal

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced the signing of center Jack Berglund to a three-year, entry-level contract, commencing in the 2026-27 season. General Manager Daniel Briere confirmed the signing, signaling a significant investment in the team’s future.

Berglund, a 19-year-old (born April 10, 2006), was originally selected by the Flyers in the second round (51st overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft. He will initially join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL) to continue his development for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

A Rising Star from Sweden

The Karlstad, Sweden native has quickly established himself as a player to watch. He recently completed his first full season in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Färjestad BK, registering an impressive seven goals and five assists for 12 points in 40 games. He added three assists in seven playoff appearances.

Berglund’s international experience is equally noteworthy. He captained Sweden to a gold medal victory at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, tying for the team lead in scoring with 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in seven games. His +9 rating also led the entire tournament. He also represented Sweden at the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championship.

Flyers’ Growing Prospect Pool

Berglund is the fourth player from Philadelphia’s 2024 draft class to sign an entry-level contract, joining Porter Martone, Noah Powell, and Cole Knuble. He is the sixth prospect to sign with the Flyers in the last month, alongside Alex Ciernik and Riley Thompson. This influx of young talent demonstrates the organization’s commitment to building a competitive team through development.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 217 pounds, Berglund brings a combination of size, skill, and leadership potential to the Flyers organization. He progressed through the Färjestad BK system, showcasing his dedication and growth within the organization.

Looking Ahead

Berglund made his SHL debut during the 2023-24 season, leading all under-18 players in scoring. He has a total of nine goals and 16 points in 65 career SHL games. The Flyers will be closely monitoring his progress in the AHL as he prepares for a potential future role with the NHL team.
