Bus Cancellations Averted: Perak Government Reinstates Vital Route & Plans Expansion

IPOH, Perak – Commuters in Perak can breathe a sigh of relief as the state government has confirmed that no further stage bus routes will be discontinued, including the previously cancelled Kuala Kangsar-Lenggong-Gerik route. This decision comes following significant concerns raised by residents, particularly students who rely heavily on the service.

Datuk Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Chairman of the Perak Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee, addressed reporters today, stating, “We understand the concerns of users, especially students who depend on this bus service for school. Therefore, the state government will ensure that no routes are discontinued.”

Route Reinstatement Following Public Outcry

The Kuala Kangsar-Lenggong-Gerik route was temporarily suspended last week, causing considerable disruption. However, swift action was taken following complaints from affected commuters, and the service was reinstated just two days later. This demonstrates the state government’s responsiveness to the needs of its citizens.

Expansion Plans for Improved Connectivity

Looking ahead, the Perak government is actively planning to enhance public transport connectivity in the region. New routes are being proposed to serve the Kampar and Gopeng areas, aiming to improve accessibility for residents in Tanjung Tualang, Kampung Timah, Tronoh Mines, Gopeng, Kopisan, and Kampar.

These proposed routes are currently awaiting approval from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD). The government recognizes the importance of a robust public transportation network for economic development and social inclusion. Community Response & Future Outlook

Previously, residents in Lenggong voiced their concerns after the initial discontinuation of the Kuala Kangsar-Lenggong-Gerik service, highlighting the impact on their daily lives. The reinstatement of the route and the plans for expansion signal a positive step towards addressing these concerns and providing reliable public transport options for all Perak residents.

This commitment to public transport is crucial for supporting education, employment, and overall quality of life in Perak. The government’s proactive approach to addressing bus cancellations and investing in new routes demonstrates a dedication to serving the needs of the community.
