Australia Women vs India Women: Live Updates & Match Analysis
Hello and welcome to the second T20 of the series and the dawn of the “Sophie Molineux era” for Australia! The first match didn’t quite go as planned for the new captain (thanks to a significant downpour that shortened the game). Australia struggled to build partnerships, losing wickets at a concerning rate and finishing well below par, unable to bat their full overs. Consequently, India comfortably surpassed the DLS par score before the rain intervened, securing the first win of the series.
Fortunately, today’s weather in Canberra is bright and rain-free, meaning both teams will have the opportunity to play a full match. For India, it’s about maintaining their momentum – their bowling and fielding were exceptional on Sunday – and getting the chance to bat through a complete innings to assess their potential total. Australia will be eager to bounce back, and with a strong batting lineup that underperformed in the previous match, they are certainly capable of doing so. Expect a thrilling contest!

Renuka Singh starts the proceedings. Voll immediately gets off the mark with a single. Mooney plays cautiously, defending the first ball, then drives to deep point for a single. Voll rotates the strike again, and Mooney finishes with a defensive shot. A solid first over for Renuka.
2nd over: Australia 8-0 (Voll 6, Mooney 2)
Kranti begins her first over with two dot balls to Voll. She then catches an edge, but it falls safely, allowing Voll to scamper through for a single. Mooney adds another single. Voll lifts one over the field for two, finishing the over with a single.
3rd over: Australia 20-0 (Voll 13, Mooney 7)
Renuka resumes, and Voll immediately hits the first boundary of the night, opening the bat face and working it to the boundary for four. A single follows. Mooney joins the fun, driving past long off for four. She then pulls away aggressively for a single. Voll lifts the ball for two runs – a great over for Australia!
4th over: Australia 26-0 (Voll 18, Mooney 8)
Kranti returns for her second over. Mooney defends the first ball, then attempts a straight drive but can’t beat the field. She manages a single to relieve some pressure. Voll finds a boundary, pulling the ball to the boundary for four. Kranti tightens her line in a good comeback ball.
5th over: Australia 35-0 (Voll 27, Mooney 8)
Amanjot Kaur bowls her first over. Voll misjudges the length and plays it up in the air, but it’s well short of the field. She then joyfully slaps it over the field for four, followed by a leading edge that nearly results in a catch and bowl. A powerful straight drive for four follows – Voll is looking like a different player!
