Vince McMahon Involved in High-Speed Car Crash: Police Video Released

Newly released police video provides a detailed account of a high-speed car crash involving former WWE executive Vince McMahon last summer in Connecticut. The incident, which occurred on July 24, 2025, in Westport, Connecticut, involved McMahon driving his 2024 Bentley Continental GT at speeds exceeding 100 mph (160 kph) on the Merritt Parkway.

The Crash Unfolds

Dashcam footage from a Connecticut State Trooper shows McMahon accelerating away from the officer before braking too late, resulting in a collision with the rear of a BMW. The Bentley then swerved, hitting a guardrail and spinning across the highway, scattering debris. The incident occurred on the same day as the passing of WWE legend Hulk Hogan, adding another layer of somberness to the event.

“Why were you driving all over 100 mph?” Detective Maxwell Robins questioned McMahon after approaching the wrecked Bentley, a vehicle valued at over $300,000. McMahon responded, stating he was rushing to his granddaughter’s birthday.

Details from Police Footage

Bodycam footage reveals a conversation between Detective Robins and McMahon. The detective inquired if McMahon was using his phone at the time of the crash, to which McMahon denied. He also admitted he hadn’t driven the car in a while, remarking, “Yeah, too (expletive) fast.”

Remarkably, the driver of a third vehicle, struck by flying debris, was wearing a WWE shirt. Barbara Doran, the driver of the BMW, shared with the Associated Press that McMahon expressed concern for her well-being and relief that she was unharmed. She was en route to a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard at the time.

Legal Ramifications and Aftermath

McMahon was initially cited for reckless driving and following too closely. However, he was later allowed to enter a pretrial probation program. Successful completion of the program will result in the charges being erased from his record next October. He was also ordered to make a $1,000 charitable contribution.

Mark Sherman, McMahon’s lawyer, emphasized that the crash was an accident. “Not every car accident is a crime,” Sherman stated. “Vince’s primary concern during this case was for the other drivers and is appreciative that the court saw this more of an accident than a crime that needed to be prosecuted.”

Context and Background

State police clarified that the incident was not a pursuit, but rather an attempt to clock McMahon’s speed. The videos, obtained through a public records request and first reported by The Sun newspaper, offer a comprehensive look at the events of that day.

This incident adds to a complex period for McMahon, who stepped down as WWE’s CEO in 2022 amid allegations of sexual misconduct and resigned as executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings in 2024 following a sexual abuse lawsuit. He has denied these allegations, and the lawsuit remains pending. McMahon’s legacy in the wrestling world is undeniable, having transformed the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) into a global phenomenon since purchasing it in 1982.
