Laura Zapata Prepares for the Ultimate Challenge: ‘La Casa de los Famosos’

At 69 years young, Laura Zapata is on the verge of facing one of the most extreme challenges of her career: entering ‘La Casa de los Famosos US,’ a reality show where there are no privileges, luxuries, or personal comforts. Far from being intimidated by the lack of a private bathroom, forced cohabitation, or household chores, the iconic villainess of telenovelas knows exactly how she plans to survive the total confinement: like a Girl Scout.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly en Español, the actress candidly shares how she is mentally preparing to live without the comforts she is accustomed to and coexist with over 20 personalities under the same roof, 24 hours a day. “What scares me is washing bathrooms,” she confesses frankly, before bursting into laughter. “And I hope everyone understands and supports me.”

Zapata understands that this experience will be radically different from any previous project. There will be no dressing rooms, assistants, or private routines. However, far from victimizing herself, the actress has decided to reframe the experience from an emotional and strategic perspective. “I’m going to pretend I’m a Girl Scout, going on a field trip with my classmates,” she explains. “There will be people of different levels, not social, but of consciousness development.”

For Laura, the key isn’t to impose authority or engage in conflicts, but to carefully choose with whom to connect within the house. “I will get along with those who have a similar level of consciousness to mine. Those will be my little friends,” she points out. “With other people, I will simply not get involved.”

The actress makes it clear that she isn’t entering the reality show to “put on a show” or replicate the villain archetype that has accompanied her for decades in fiction. On the contrary, she sees this experience as an opportunity to show a little-known facet of herself. “This house is a window that opens for people to get to know Laura Zapata, the human being, not a character,” she affirms.

Although she acknowledges that cohabitation can be a trigger for conflicts—especially with personalities seeking attention—Zapata assures that she won’t get caught up in provocations or allow anyone to throw her off balance. “I’m not going to participate in behaviors that I know perfectly well and that only seek the spotlight,” she says firmly. “I won’t get hooked.”

Regarding the lack of luxuries, the actress assures that she doesn’t need anything extraordinary to feel comfortable inside the house. Her luggage will be as simple as her approach. “I’m going to take my everyday items,” she reveals. “My slippers, my shawls, my scarves, my headbands… what I use in my daily life. I’m not going to do anything spectacular, because *I* am spectacular.”

Zapata also anticipates that the public might be surprised to discover her lighter and more relaxed side, very different from the image of toughness that many have of her. “People think I’m heavy or bitter, but I’m very funny, I laugh even at myself. I’m quite lighthearted,” she shares.

With this mindset, Laura Zapata is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing participants of ‘La Casa de los Famosos 6’: a woman with a solid career, zero need for luxuries, and a strategy based on observation, emotional intelligence, and psychological resilience. More than surviving the confinement, Laura is determined to demonstrate that strength doesn’t always shout… and that even a “Girl Scout” can go far.

‘La Casa de los Famosos 6’ premieres on February 17th at 7:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m. Central, on Telemundo, with 24/7 transmission and hosted by Jimena Gállego and Javier Poza.
