Coachella Weather Forces Cancellation of Anyma’s Set
Electronic music artist Anyma, known as Matteo Milleri, has expressed his disappointment after his Coachella set was canceled early Saturday morning due to severe weather conditions. The cancellation comes amidst reports of strong winds impacting the festival grounds in Indio, California.
Anyma’s Heartfelt Response
In a statement posted on his X account, Anyma shared his heartbreak, stating, “I’m heartbroken. I don’t have many words other than to say I’m truly devastated and deeply sorry to everyone who showed up to the main stage, and to those watching the livestream at home.” He emphasized the immense effort put into preparing the new ÆDEN show, highlighting the dedication of his team and the Coachella crew.
“Having the opportunity to perform the new ÆDEN show and share all the new music and art means more to me than I can express. It’s incredibly painful, especially after working day and night for the past year, not just me, but my team and the @coachella crew, who poured everything into this,” Anyma wrote.
Safety Concerns Drive the Decision
The artist acknowledged that safety was the paramount concern, explaining that the dangerous winds not only hindered stage construction but also compromised the safety of his entire live setup. The decision to cancel was made jointly by Anyma and Coachella organizers.
“Safety was and always will be our biggest concern. The dangerous winds not only prevented us and Coachella from building our stage, but also made it impossible for my entire live setup and performance to operate safely.”
Looking for Solutions & Weekend 2 Plans
While there are currently no available slots for Anyma to perform during Weekend 1, he is actively exploring options to share his music with fans. He expressed reluctance to disrupt the schedules of other artists, promising updates soon.
Anyma was scheduled to perform immediately following Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set on Day 1. Festival attendees were notified of the schedule change at 12:17 a.m. via the Coachella app and online statements.
Coachella Weather Report & Impact
Coachella officials stated, “Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma’s stage build, he is unable to perform. Coachella & Anyma have made this decision together with your safety as the priority. Further updates to come.”
Winds reportedly reached 35-40 mph on Friday, causing tents to collapse in the campground area. The weather forecast for Sunday, the final day of Weekend 1, predicts winds of 10-20 mph, with the potential for gusts. You can find more detailed weather information for the area at AccuWeather.
Fortunately for fans, Anyma is still scheduled to perform during Weekend 2 of Coachella, in the same time slot this coming Friday night.
