Following a comprehensive national search led by Alma Advisory Group, Dr. Estrella emerged as the clear choice to lead this remarkable district into the future.

The search for a new Superintendent was a transparent and inclusive process. Thousands of students, families, educators, and community members shared their insights through surveys, focus groups, and listening sessions. These valuable perspectives shaped the leadership profile that guided the Board’s decision-making.
Dr. Estrella’s Impressive Background
Dr. Estrella brings over twenty-six years of experience in education to Gwinnett County. Currently serving as Superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools in Connecticut, she previously held key leadership roles within the New York City Department of Education, including Superintendent of Community School District Four in East Harlem. Her career began as a science teacher in Washington Heights, and she also founded Esperanza Preparatory Academy, a dual-language school focused on academic opportunity and college preparation.
Throughout her career, Dr. Estrella has consistently demonstrated a commitment to strengthening instruction, developing school leaders, and improving student outcomes through data-driven decision-making.
