Sessions, has been officially charged after allegedly bringing a firearm into the high-security zone of the United States Capitol complex.

The Incident: A Security Lapse in December

According to court documents, the incident dates back to December, when security officers at a House office building—an integral part of the Capitol complex—detected a black pistol and ammunition. The weapon was discovered during a routine security screening as Vega sent his bag through the checkpoint.

Following the discovery, security personnel instructed Vega to secure the firearm in his vehicle and return for his belongings to be re-screened. While Vega complied with these instructions at the time, the incident did not end there.
