TMJ4: Human Trafficking Case Update – On the Border Gentleman’s Club Investigation

MILWAUKEE — A multi-year human trafficking investigation centered around On the Border Gentleman’s Club in Franklin took a significant turn on Friday morning as four men appeared in Milwaukee County Court. The case, which has garnered considerable attention, involves allegations of exploitation and coercion of women working at the establishment.

Jimmy Durant and Brian Hopkins appeared in court in person, while Maurice Russell and Dantavia Rule participated via Zoom. All four defendants were initially arrested in December 2025. The proceedings mark a crucial step in bringing those accused to justice.

Defendants Plead Not Guilty

Durant, Rule, and Russell, currently in custody, all entered pleas of not guilty to the multiple felony charges they face. Their defense teams requested additional time to thoroughly review the extensive evidence presented during the discovery phase. This request underscores the complexity of the case and the need for meticulous examination of the facts.

Details of the Allegations

The 23-page criminal complaint details allegations against Jimmy Durrant Jr., Dantavia Rule, and Maurice Russell, all 31 years old and from Milwaukee. The complaint alleges their involvement in trafficking multiple women employed at On the Border, also known as OTB. The investigation suggests a pattern of exploitation and control over the victims.

Hopkins’ Status Conference

Brian Hopkins, the former general manager of the club who is currently released on bail, attended a status conference. TMJ4 News reporter Megan Lee attempted to obtain a statement from Hopkins following the court appearance.

Megan Lee (TMJ4 Reporter): “Mr. Hopkins, are you interested in speaking at all?”

Brian Hopkins: “No.”

Megan Lee: “The allegations against you are pretty serious. No comment?”

Brian Hopkins: (Remained silent)

Upcoming Court Dates

Hopkins is scheduled to return to court in July. Durant, Rule, and Russell will reappear in May. These upcoming dates will be critical as the legal proceedings continue to unfold.
