Heavenly Mountain Resort Announces Unexpected Reopening for Skiing Weekend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After a brief closure on April 5th due to less-than-ideal snow conditions, Heavenly Mountain Resort is thrilled to announce a special reopening of its Upper California Trail and Tamarack Return this Saturday, April 18th, and Sunday, April 19th. This exciting news comes after a recent storm cycle delivered a generous 25 inches of fresh powder to the mountain.

“When we received this storm after closing, we immediately started brainstorming – ‘What can we do? Can we get something open? Can we take some snow off of other runs and move it to at least one or two runs to be able to get our guests back on snow?’” said Cole Zimmerman, Senior Manager of Communications at Heavenly Mountain Resort. “So that’s what we did. We started working hard.”

A Thank You to Skiers and Pass Holders

This unusual reopening is a gesture of gratitude to Heavenly’s loyal guests and pass holders, celebrating the resort’s 70th season. It’s a chance to squeeze in a few more runs and enjoy the stunning scenery of Lake Tahoe.

Plan Your Visit

Lift tickets and day passes are available for purchase online. 2025/26 Epic Pass holders can utilize their passes this weekend. Access to the mountain is conveniently available via the Heavenly Gondola. Consider purchasing your lift ticket now, as the cost can be applied towards an Epic Pass for next season!

Beyond skiing and snowboarding, guests can enjoy the mountain coaster, observation deck, and a variety of food and beverage options.

Transportation & Parking

Parking at Stateline can be limited. To ease congestion, a free shuttle will operate from Heavenly’s California Main Lodge to the Stateline Transit Center every 15 minutes, starting at 9:30 a.m. Free shuttle service from Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe to Kirkwood will also continue to operate.

“It will be another weekend of activities, skiing and riding, gondola sight-seeing, and we’re super stoked to be able to offer it,” Zimmerman added. Don’t miss this final opportunity to experience the magic of Heavenly this season!
