Nationals Stun Cardinals with Explosive Eighth Inning

WASHINGTON (AP) – April 6, 2026 – In a thrilling display of offensive power, the Washington Nationals overcame a mid-game deficit to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6 on Monday night. A monumental six-run eighth inning, fueled by the bats of James Wood, Brady House, and CJ Abrams, propelled the Nationals to victory.

Cionel Pérez (1-1) secured the win with a scoreless ninth inning, supported by combined relief efforts from Ken Waldichuk and Andre Granillo, who allowed three runs in the eighth.
