Miguel Rojas Braces for Hostile Reception in Toronto Rematch

Miguel Rojas Expects a Frosty Welcome in Toronto

When the Los Angeles Dodgers head to Toronto to face the Blue Jays on Monday, it’s more than just a regular season game – it’s a rematch of the thrilling 2025 World Series. Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas is bracing himself for a particularly vocal reception from the Toronto crowd, fully expecting to be the target of the loudest boos.

“It’s not like playing in front of our fans, it’s playing in front of the whole city that was hopeful to win a World Series,” Rojas explained to MLB.com’s Sonja Chen and Keegan Matheson. “I’m expecting, for the first time in my life, to get booed when I play there.”

A Series That Stings

Rojas acknowledges that certain series throughout the year carry extra weight, and this one is undoubtedly among them. He described these matchups as opportunities to prepare for the intensity of the postseason. “We respect all the opponents throughout the year, but there are series in the middle of the year that… get the best out of you. And I think this series – and series like when we play the Padres, when we play a big weekend series against the Yankees or stuff like that – makes you feel like, ‘OK, this is a way to prepare for what’s coming.’

He continued, “With that being said, it’s kind of like trying to find things that get you ready for what you want to accomplish and where you want to get. And especially when you face these teams that are looking for the same thing that you’re looking for, which is winning a championship, it gets you ready for where you want to go.”

The Moment That Changed Everything

The memory of the 2025 World Series is still fresh for Blue Jays fans, and not in a good way. With Toronto just two outs away from securing their first championship since 1993, Miguel Rojas dramatically altered the course of history. He launched a game-tying home run off right-hander Jeff Hoffman, sending a 3-2 slider into the Blue Jays’ bullpen in left field.

But Rojas’ impact didn’t end there. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he made a crucial defensive play, cutting off Isiah Kiner-Falefa at home plate, preventing the winning run from scoring. The Dodgers ultimately clinched the championship two innings later, thanks to a solo home run from catcher Will Smith.

This upcoming series promises to be a highly charged affair, fueled by the lingering emotions of that unforgettable World Series showdown. Rojas is prepared for the hostility, viewing it as a challenge and an opportunity to test himself against a formidable opponent.
