Canadiens de Montréal Aim for Eighth Consecutive Victory
The Montreal Canadiens are looking to secure their eighth consecutive win tonight as they face off against the New Jersey Devils. However, much of the excitement surrounding the team revolves around the possibility of winger Cole Caufield scoring his 50th goal of the season. Achieving this milestone would make him the first Canadiens player to do so since Stéphane Richer in 1990. In the city where Maurice Richard became the first player in NHL history to reach 50 goals, this is a truly magical prospect.
The game is currently underway on TVA Sports. After the first period, the score stands at 3-0 in favour of the Canadiens.

Pre-Game Insights
With a win, the Canadiens would become the sixth team to reach 100 points this season. Thanks to this impressive winning streak, Martin St-Louis’s team is now close behind the leaders of the Atlantic Division, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Buffalo Sabres, who hold only a two-point advantage. The battle promises to be fierce until the end of the regular season.
This match is the first of two against the Devils in 48 hours. The New Jersey team is having another difficult season despite its talent and is firmly excluded from the playoff picture, although they have won seven of their last ten games.
“They had a tough few months with a lot of injuries,” commented St-Louis this morning. “Lately, they’re healthy, they’ve rebounded. I think if we had a 90-game schedule, they might be in the picture… I think they might just be a little short on time, but they’re playing good hockey. It’s a good challenge for us.”
Jake Allen will be in net for the Devils, while Jakub Dobes is expected to protect the Canadiens’ net, with the rest of the lineup remaining identical to the one from Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers. This will be confirmed shortly before tonight’s game.
