Frigidaire Oven Recall Canada: Potential Burn Hazard Affects Thousands of Homes
Approximately 180,000 Frigidaire brand gas ranges are being voluntarily recalled across Canada and the United States due to a potentially dangerous defect in the oven’s bake burner. This recall, issued in collaboration with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), stems from reports of delayed ignition, posing a significant burn risk to consumers.
What’s the Problem?
According to Health Canada, the affected ovens may experience a “delayed ignition of the oven’s bake burner.” This means the gas may not ignite immediately when the oven is turned on, potentially leading to a build-up of gas and a subsequent flare-up when ignition finally occurs. This poses a serious risk of burns to anyone nearby.
Which Models are Affected?
The recall impacts several Frigidaire lines, including Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery, and Frigidaire Professional. Approximately 5,318 units have been sold in Canada, with a much larger 174,000 units recalled in the United States. Here’s a list of the specific model numbers included in the recall:
