Winnipeg Jets Bolster Roster with Acquisition of Isak Rosén and Jacob Bryson
WINNIPEG, Mar. 6, 2026 – In a blockbuster trade announced today, the Winnipeg Jets have significantly strengthened their roster by acquiring defenceman Jacob Bryson and forward Isak Rosén from the Buffalo Sabres. In exchange, the Jets sent defencemen Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley to Buffalo, along with a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The conditional fourth-round pick will be the higher of Buffalo’s own fourth-round selection or the Edmonton Oilers’ fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. The Jets will also retain 50% of Luke Schenn’s contract as part of the agreement.
A Closer Look at the New Additions
Jacob Bryson: A Reliable Defenceman
Bryson, 28, has appeared in 35 games for the Sabres this season, registering 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) and 8 penalty minutes. The London, Ontario native has a solid NHL career spanning 289 games with Buffalo, accumulating 48 points (6 goals, 42 assists) and 58 penalty minutes. Drafted in the fourth round (99th overall) by the Sabres in 2017, Bryson brings experience and stability to the Jets’ defensive corps.

The real excitement surrounds Isak Rosén, a 22-year-old forward with immense potential. Rosén has showcased his offensive prowess this season, recording 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 16 NHL games with Buffalo. However, it’s in the AHL where he’s truly shone, leading the Rochester Americans in goals with 25 and ranking second on the team with 43 points in the 2025-26 season.
Rosén’s impressive performance earned him the AHL Player of the Month award for November 2025, after a stellar stretch of 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in just eight games. Selected by Buffalo in the first round (14th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, Rosén has 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) in 31 career NHL games. His AHL stats are equally impressive, with 185 points (87 goals, 98 assists) in 231 games, and 16 points (11 goals, 5 assists) in 27 AHL playoff games.
What the Jets Gave Up
Luke Schenn: A Veteran Presence
Luke Schenn, 36, provided a veteran presence on the Jets’ blue line, contributing 7 points (1 goal, 6 assists) and 32 penalty minutes this season. With 1,118 NHL games played across nine teams, Schenn brings a wealth of experience. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Logan Stanley: Developing Defenceman
Logan Stanley, 27, was a first-round pick (18th overall) by the Jets in 2016. He had a breakout season, setting career highs in points (21), goals (9), and penalty minutes (99). Stanley has played 261 career NHL games for Winnipeg, registering 57 points (14 goals, 43 assists) and 304 penalty minutes.
