Michael Conforto Finds New Home with the Chicago Cubs
Michael Conforto was looking to revitalize his career when he inked a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the 2025 season. Unfortunately, the year didn’t unfold as planned. Conforto endured the worst statistical season of his Major League Baseball career, posting a mere .199/.305/.333 batting line with 12 home runs, 54 runs scored, 36 RBI, and a disappointing 83 wRC+.
The Dodgers organization dedicated significant effort to refining Conforto’s swing, a process that continued throughout the season. While he experienced brief periods of positive results, he never truly found his rhythm at the plate. This struggle significantly impacted his market as he re-entered free agency, prompting a search for a new beginning.
A New Chapter in Chicago
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Conforto has found that fresh start with the Chicago Cubs:

Several teams, including the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox, expressed interest in Conforto’s services. Ultimately, the Cubs emerged as the winning bidder, essentially swapping outfielders with the Dodgers, as Kyle Tucker heads to Los Angeles.
Looking Back at Conforto’s Career
Despite his struggles in Los Angeles, Conforto has demonstrated consistent offensive prowess throughout his MLB career. From his debut in 2015 with the New York Mets through 2024 with the San Francisco Giants, he maintained a .251/.348/.456 slash line, smashing 167 home runs, driving in 520 RBI, and scoring 514 runs, all while boasting a 119 wRC+. He even had four seasons with a wRC+ exceeding 125, with two campaigns surpassing a remarkable 145.
While left off the Dodgers’ postseason roster, Conforto showcased his postseason potential in 2015, hitting .200/.235/.500 with three home runs during the Mets’ World Series run.
Dodgers Add Suwinski
In a related move, the Dodgers claimed Jack Suwinski off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Suwinski was designated for assignment by the Pirates on February 16th after two underwhelming seasons. However, he showed promise in 2023, hitting .224/.339/.454 with 26 home runs and 13 stolen bases.
