Mia Ristic Secures Victory in Antalya Challenger Qualifiers

Serbian tennis sensation, Mia Ristic, has advanced to the second round of the Antalya Challenger qualifiers after a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win against Daria Astakhova. Ristic will now face another Russian opponent, Alevtina Ibragimova, in her quest to reach the main draw of this important tournament.

The match against Astakhova lasted an hour and 50 minutes, proving to be more challenging than the scoreline suggests. The first set was particularly decisive, marked by a series of broken serves. Ristic initially gained a break advantage, then lost it, before ultimately securing the set amidst the fluctuating service games.

Ristic started the second set strong, immediately breaking Astakhova’s serve. She then consolidated her lead, holding serve through the fourth game, and steadily increased her momentum towards victory.

Facing Ibragimova in the Next Round

Ristic will next compete against Alevtina Ibragimova, another representative of Russia. Similar to her first qualifying match, Ristic is favored to win. She currently holds a ranking nearly 50 places higher than Ibragimova.

Currently ranked 274th on the WTA list, the 19-year-old Ristic has yet to break into the top 250. However, her performance in Turkey suggests this could be the tournament where she achieves that milestone.
