NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 5/5-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team is set to host No. 4/4-ranked Texas in a highly anticipated top-five matchup at Memorial Gymnasium this Thursday. Tipoff against the Longhorns is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.

A Battle of SEC Powerhouses

This game promises to be a thrilling contest between two of the SEC’s elite teams. Vanderbilt (23-2, 9-2 SEC) enters the game on a three-game winning streak, fresh off a dominant 102-86 victory over No. 10/11 Oklahoma. Texas (23-2, 8-2 SEC) has also been impressive, winning five straight games after a pair of tough losses on the road.

Key Players to Watch

Sophomore Mikayla Blakes and freshman Aubrey Galvan have been leading the charge for Vanderbilt. Both players recently scored 30 points in a single game against Oklahoma, becoming the first Vanderbilt teammates to achieve this feat this century. Blakes has eight 30-point performances this season, while Galvan is quickly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with.

For Texas, junior Madison Booker (18.6 ppg) leads the team in scoring, supported by Jordan Lee (13.4 ppg), Aaliyah Crump (12.0 ppg), and Kyla Oldacre (11.1 ppg), who also leads the Longhorns in rebounding (6.8 rpg).

  • Home Court Advantage: The Commodores boast a remarkable 13-straight home game winning streak this season, and 14 consecutive wins at Memorial Gym dating back to last season.
  • SEC Standings: Vanderbilt currently sits in second place in the SEC standings with a 9-2 record, just one game behind South Carolina.
