Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max: A Deep Red Revolution?
While the iPhone 18 Pro Max is still over six months away from release, the rumour mill is already churning, and the latest whispers are particularly exciting. Apple may finally be answering a long-standing request from its user base: a red ‘Pro’ iPhone. The Return of Red: A Flagship Colour for iPhone 18 Pro
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is currently considering a new ‘deep red’ colour option for the iPhone 18 Pro. This potential addition comes on the heels of Apple’s transition to an all-aluminum unibody design with the iPhone 17 Pro, which provides significantly more flexibility in terms of colour options for the ‘Pro’ models.
Gurman notes the immense popularity of the current Cosmic Orange colour, particularly in China. Despite red and orange being relatively close on the colour wheel, Apple might choose to offer both, capitalizing on the success of the orange variant. “Given the success of orange, I wouldn’t be surprised if the company keeps that option around and just adds the red as an additional choice,” Gurman stated. However, the potential for colour overlap is being considered.
As of now, red is reportedly the leading colour in testing for the next iPhone Pros. This is fantastic news for those who have long desired a red iPhone Pro, especially considering Apple discontinued red iPhones with the iPhone 14 back in 2022.
iPhone Fold: A More Reserved Palette
The colour options for the upcoming iPhone Fold are shaping up to be considerably more subdued. Gurman reports that Apple intends to “stay away” from vibrant colours, opting instead for a return to the classic iPhone colour schemes of the early days. Expect to see options like dark gray or black, alongside variations of white or light silver.
This conservative approach is likely due to the complexities of manufacturing a brand-new product like the iPhone Fold. Simplifying the colour options streamlines the production process, mirroring the launch of the iPhone X, which was initially available in only two colours compared to the iPhone 7’s six.
