The Spirit of the Zorros: Atlas FC Defies the Odds in Tijuana
In a match defined by grit and determination, Atlas FC managed to secure three vital points in one of the toughest environments in the league. Facing off against Xolos—one of the most formidable home teams in the championship—the “Rojinegros” proved that resilience is their greatest asset.
Despite facing numerous absences in the squad and challenging pitch conditions, the team led by coach Hernán Crespo maintained their tactical conviction until the final whistle, completing a comeback that has electrified their fanbase.
Crespo Praises the “Rebellion” of His Squad
Following the hard-fought victory, Hernán Crespo did not hide his pride in his players. The Argentine strategist highlighted the team’s ability to dominate the game and flip a script that seemed unfavorable during the first half.
“We had countless opportunities where we were the protagonists, owning the game and consistently playing in the opponent’s half. I loved the rebellion of the team to reverse an unjust situation,” Crespo stated.
For Crespo, going into the locker room at halftime while trailing was an “enormous injustice,” given the quality of play exhibited by Atlas. He emphasized that settling for a draw was never an option for a group with such a winning mentality.
A Rare Triumph and a Boost for the Clásico Tapatío
This victory is more than just three points in the standings; it is a historic achievement. Reports indicate that this is only the third time in 15 years that Atlas has secured a win in Tijuana, underscoring the magnitude of the feat.
This momentum comes at a perfect time as the club prepares for the highly anticipated Clásico Tapatío. While Crespo acknowledged the difficulty of the recent period due to injuries and defensive rotations, he believes the team’s response has left them in a positive state of mind.
