Ryan Feltner’s Return: Rockies Aim to Continue Dominance Over Blue Jays
Following a stunning 14-5 victory in Game 1, the Colorado Rockies (1-3) have a chance to seize the series against the Toronto Blue Jays (3-1) tonight. The Rockies’ offensive explosion even forced the Blue Jays to utilize a position player on the mound before the night concluded. All eyes will be on Rockies’ starter Ryan Feltner as he makes his 2026 season debut.
Feltner’s Journey Back to the Rockies Rotation
Colorado finds themselves in a unique situation: they are currently the only team in MLB yet to have a starting pitcher complete five innings in a game this season. Feltner, a familiar face to Rockies fans, will be looking to change that. Throughout five seasons (2021-2025) with the Rockies, Feltner has a 9-26 record with a 5.19 ERA across 67 starts and 68 total appearances (339.2 innings pitched, 196 earned runs). His 2025 campaign was unfortunately hampered by injuries.
In his six starts last year, Feltner posted a 4.75 ERA (30.1 IP, 16 ER) while recording 25 strikeouts and 12 walks. Tonight represents a fresh start for the right-hander, and a crucial opportunity to establish himself as a reliable piece of the Rockies’ pitching staff.
Scherzer Answers: Blue Jays Counter with Veteran Ace
The Blue Jays will counter with veteran right-hander Max Scherzer, who is embarking on his second season with the team. Scherzer, known as “Mad Max” for his intensity on the mound, finished 2025 with a 5.19 ERA in 17 starts. He had a slightly delayed start to his preparation, reporting to spring training on March 2nd after signing late in the offseason.
