The Power of the 12th Man
Amobi Ezeaku, the General Manager and CEO of the “Flying Antelopes,” has made a passionate plea to football fans across Nigeria. He emphasizes that the presence of the crowd is not just about numbers, but about providing the psychological boost the players need to secure a vital home-leg advantage.
“A strong turnout from the fans will boost the team’s morale and inspire the players to deliver an impressive performance ahead of the return leg in Algeria,” stated Ezeaku.
More Than Just a Game
For Rangers International, this isn’t merely a fixture in the CAF Champions League; it is a matter of prestige. As a historic club, Rangers represents the pride and aspirations of Enugu State and the entire nation of Nigeria on the continental stage. The objective is clear: to project Nigerian footballing excellence to the rest of Africa.
The Road to the Second Round
The journey to this showdown was far from easy. Rangers secured their spot in the second preliminary round after a nail-biting encounter with the Benin Republic side, Sobemap. After a hard-fought 2-2 aggregate draw over two legs, the Nigerian champions showed nerves of steel to progress 4-3 via a dramatic penalty shootout.
With the momentum from their previous victory, Rangers International now looks to conquer MC Alger and take a significant step closer to the group stages of Africa’s most prestigious club competition.
