LSU Tigers Conquer Ole Miss Rebels in High-Scoring Battle
OXFORD, Miss. – The LSU Tigers delivered a captivating performance, defeating the No. 17 Ole Miss Rebels 78-70 on Thursday night at the Sandy and John Black Pavilion. Junior guard MiLaysia Fulwiley led the charge with a career-high 26 points, propelling LSU to a significant Southeastern Conference (SEC) victory.
Game Recap: A Tale of Two Halves
With this win, LSU improves to 23-4 overall and 9-4 in SEC play, while Ole Miss falls to 21-7 and 8-5 in league competition. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with LSU initially taking a strong lead in the first quarter, fueled by a hot start from senior Flau’jae Johnson, who scored nine quick points.
However, Ole Miss battled back, tying the game at 31 in the second quarter and eventually taking a 43-37 lead into halftime. The Rebels continued their momentum in the third quarter, extending their lead to as many as 13 points.
A Fourth Quarter for the Ages
The turning point came in the fourth quarter, where LSU unleashed a defensive masterclass. The Tigers held Ole Miss scoreless from the field for the entire quarter (0-for-17), with the Rebels’ only points coming from free throws. This incredible defensive stand, which tied a Division I record for fewest field goals made in a quarter (according to CBB Analytics), fueled a massive 24-7 run for LSU.
Fulwiley’s Stellar Performance & Key Contributions
MiLaysia Fulwiley’s 26 points weren’t just a career high; they were a testament to her all-around game. She also contributed seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and three steals. Flau’jae Johnson added 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists, providing crucial support.
Late-Game Heroics & Comeback Victory
LSU overcame a 10+ point deficit for the first time since February 23, 2025, against Kentucky. In a dominant stretch lasting 6:24, the Tigers went on a 19-1 scoring run to seal the victory. Fulwiley’s clutch free throws gave LSU the lead, and the team never looked back.
