NFL Mock Draft 2026: A First-Round Forecast
As the NFL world converges on Indianapolis for the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, it’s the perfect time to unveil my latest projection of how the first round will unfold in Pittsburgh during the 2026 NFL Draft (April 23-25). The Combine promises to be a pivotal event, potentially shifting the prospect pecking order. However, as of now – just before the free agency frenzy – here’s my forecast for Round 1.
NOTE: NFL Network and NFL+ will provide live coverage of the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine starting February 26.
Round 1 Predictions
- Raiders: Jayden Mendoza (QB, Alabama) – The Raiders kick off the Klint Kubiak era with a perfect quarterback match. Mendoza’s precision passing and clutch playmaking will energize an already talented offense.
- Jets: Dallas Bailey (EDGE, Clemson) – With Aaron Glenn at the helm, the Jets could prioritize a pass rusher to generate more takeaways. Bailey is a spectacular sack specialist with explosive potential.
- Cardinals: Alama Mauigoa (OT, Washington) – Regardless of Kyler Murray’s future, the Cardinals need a tackle to protect the right side, complementing LT Paris Johnson Jr. Mauigoa is a powerful and aggressive edge blocker.
- Titans: Jeremiah Reese (LB/EDGE, Ohio State) – Robert Saleh can’t resist a versatile athlete with playmaking skills. Reese’s development may take time, but the Titans’ coach could unlock his potential.
- Ravens: Cooper Downs (S, Georgia) – John Harbaugh could target a multi-faceted defensive playmaker. Downs’ intelligence and potential could significantly bolster the Giants’ defense.
- Browns: Jackson Fano (OL, Oregon) – The Browns must strengthen their offensive line. Fano is an athletic lineman capable of playing in various schemes.
- Commanders: Ben Bain (EDGE, Michigan) – A high-motor defender with disruptive potential, Bain complements a traditional edge rusher.
- Saints: Elijah Love (RB, Texas) – Adding a dynamic playmaker could help Tyler Shough thrive in Year 2. Love could serve as an apprentice to Alvin Kamara or form a potent backfield duo.
- Chiefs: Jalen Tate (WR, USC) – Tate’s speed and explosiveness would add another dimension to the Chiefs’ passing game.
- Bengals: Deuce Faulk (EDGE, LSU) – Despite being unrefined as a pass rusher, Faulk’s disruptive potential makes him a viable pick for the Bengals.
- Dolphins: Roman Delane (CB, Florida State) – A talented technician who would help the Dolphins match up against high-powered offenses.
- Cowboys: Darius Mesidor (EDGE, Penn State) – The Cowboys’ new defensive scheme could make this high-motor edge defender a top priority.
- Rams: Jalen McCoy (CB, Tennessee) – If healthy, McCoy could be a steal as a CB1 with ballhawk potential.
- Ravens: Ioane (DT, USC) – A perfect fit for a team wanting a dominant force at the line of scrimmage.
- Bills: Caleb Styles (LB, Florida) – Styles could seamlessly fill the role of a run-and-chase linebacker in Todd Bowles’ defense.
- Jets: Kevin Tyson (WR, Arizona State) – If the Jets address quarterback needs, adding a perimeter weapon to support Garrett Wilson is logical.
- Jaguars: William Lomu (OT, Stanford) – A long, rangy playmaker ideal for Brian Flores’ aggressive scheme.
- Panthers: Jalen McNeil-Warren (S, Auburn) – A rare find as a box-area banger with excellent center field skills.
- Cowboys: Cam Terrell (CB, LSU) – A natural playmaker with the speed to match up with top receivers.
- Steelers: Jaden Lemon (WR, Florida) – A versatile playmaker who can excel from the slot or out wide.
- Chargers: Ben Sadiq (TE, Oregon) – An athletic tight end who would thrive in an offense featuring catch-and-run concepts.
- Eagles: Quincy Concepcion (WR, TCU) – Concepcion’s run-after-catch ability could revitalize the Eagles’ RPO game.
- Browns: Michael McDonald (DT, Miami) – A disruptive presence that would immediately improve the Bears’ run defense.
- Bills: Malachi Fields (WR, Florida State) – The Bills must continue to invest in the wide receiver position.
- 49ers: Roger Lomu (OT, Stanford) – A potential long-term solution at left tackle, eventually replacing Trent Williams.
- Rams: Jaden Thieneman (S, Wisconsin) – A natural center fielder with the range and instincts to thrive in a playmaker role.
- Broncos: Tre Allen (LB, Alabama) – Allen’s old-school style fits Vance Joseph’s aggressive scheme.
- Patriots: Blake Howell (EDGE, Texas Tech) – A developmental prospect with tremendous upside.
- Seahawks: Jaron Banks (DT, Florida) – Banks’ size and strength would enhance the Seahawks’ defensive front.
This mock draft is a snapshot in time, and the landscape will undoubtedly shift as we approach April. Stay tuned for further updates as the Combine and pro days unfold!
