Let’s dive into the predictions!

American League Forecast

AL East: Toronto Blue Jays

The AL East promises to be a fiercely competitive division, but our voters predict the Toronto Blue Jays will emerge victorious. Following a remarkable worst-to-first turnaround in 2025, the Blue Jays have bolstered their roster with key additions like right-handed ace Dylan Cease and Japanese infielder Kazuma Okamoto. Despite challenges with injuries to key pitchers like Trey Yesavage, José Berríos, and Shane Bieber, Toronto’s depth and talent position them for back-to-back division titles – a feat they haven’t achieved since 1991-93.

AL Central: Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers are poised to continue their ascent in the AL Central. Despite a late-season stumble in 2025, they demonstrated their potential by eliminating the Guardians in the postseason. Led by two-time AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, and strengthened by the additions of Framber Valdez and the returning Justin Verlander, Detroit boasts a formidable rotation. The emergence of top prospect Kevin McGonigle adds another dimension to their offense, potentially providing a significant upgrade at shortstop.

AL West: Seattle Mariners

Is this finally the Mariners’ year? After coming agonizingly close to a pennant in 2025, Seattle is considered the favorite to win the AL West again. Boasting a roster that rivals their record-setting 2001 team, the Mariners feature MVP candidates Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez. Strategic acquisitions like Josh Naylor and Brendan Donovan further enhance their offensive firepower, complementing a pitching staff that is arguably the best in the American League.

AL Wild Cards: Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles

The competitive AL East is expected to yield all three Wild Card spots. The Yankees are banking on a familiar formula, retaining much of their high-powered offense from 2025, with the anticipated return of Gerrit Cole adding a significant boost. The Red Sox, despite losing Alex Bregman, are looking to a potent lineup featuring Willson Contreras and Roman Anthony. The Orioles, after a challenging 2025, are poised for a resurgence with a strengthened rotation and the addition of slugger Pete Alonso.

AL Champion: Seattle Mariners

Our voters overwhelmingly predict the Seattle Mariners will win the American League pennant for the first time in franchise history.

National League Forecast

NL East: New York Mets

The New York Mets have undergone significant roster changes and are expected to contend for the NL East title. Anchored by Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, and bolstered by the additions of Bo Bichette and Jorge Polanco, the Mets’ lineup is poised for success. The acquisition of Freddy Peralta strengthens their pitching staff, offering a significant upgrade from last season.

NL Central: Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are looking to build on their successful 2025 season and dethrone the Brewers. The additions of Alex Bregman and Edward Cabrera address key needs, providing championship pedigree and frontline starting pitching. A full season from Cade Horton and continued development from Pete Crow-Armstrong further enhance their prospects.

NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the clear favorites to win the NL West, continuing their dominance in the division. With a blend of depth and star power, including the return of Shohei Ohtani as a two-way player, the Dodgers are well-equipped to overcome any challenges.

NL Wild Cards: Phillies, Padres, Brewers

The Phillies are aiming to continue their playoff streak with a largely unchanged roster and a strong pitching rotation. The Padres, despite losing key players, still possess significant talent with Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado leading the way. The Brewers, despite some roster changes, are expected to remain competitive with a young pitching staff and a potent offense.

NL Champion: Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers are projected to win the National League Championship, continuing their impressive run.

World Series Champion: Los Angeles Dodgers

Our voters predict the Los Angeles Dodgers will complete a historic three-peat, winning their third consecutive World Series title. With a wealth of talent and experience, the Dodgers are the team to beat in 2026.
