Masters Sunday Tee Times: A Final Round Showdown at Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The tension is palpable as we head into the final round of the 2026 Masters Tournament. For the third time this week, Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young will be paired together, but this time, the stakes are infinitely higher. As the final pairing on Sunday, they aren’t chasing leaderboard position; they’re chasing a Green Jacket.
McIlroy’s Lead Under Pressure
McIlroy looked poised to dominate, setting an Augusta National record with a six-shot lead after 36 holes. He seemed destined to join golfing legends like Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo, and Jack Nicklaus as only the fourth golfer to achieve back-to-back Masters victories. However, Saturday presented a different story. McIlroy struggled, becoming the only player in the top 10 to shoot over par (73), while the rest of the field enjoyed remarkably low scoring conditions, averaging 4.4 under par.
Young and Scheffler Surge
Capitalizing on the favourable conditions, Cameron Young and Scottie Scheffler fired impressive rounds of 7-under 65. Young’s stellar performance propelled him into a tie with McIlroy for the lead, while Scheffler positioned himself firmly within striking distance, currently tied for seventh and poised for a potential third Green Jacket in five years.
A Contender-Packed Leaderboard
The competition doesn’t end there. Sam Burns, Shane Lowry, Jason Day, Justin Rose, Haotong Li, Patrick Cantlay, Russell Henley, and Patrick Reed – a past Masters champion – all remain within contention. Rose, a three-time runner-up, will also be looking to finally claim victory. Whether any of these players can mount a serious challenge remains to be seen.
