Birrell and Jones Shine in Austin, Head to Miami
Kimberly Birrell and Emerson Jones are making waves on the international stage. Both players enjoyed strong performances at the Austin WTA 125 event last week, earning them spots in the Miami 1000 tournament. Birrell, seeded sixth, continued her impressive start to 2026, reaching the semifinals. Her campaign was highlighted by a thrilling come-from-behind victory against No.2 seed McCartney Kessler in the quarterfinals. Currently boasting a 14-8 record, Birrell is proving to be a formidable competitor.
Jones also had a successful run in Austin, reaching the final eight after securing wins over Maddison Inglis and Donna Vekic. This marked her highest-level quarterfinal appearance to date. She’s now looking to build on this momentum at the Miami WTA 1000, where she’s received a well-deserved main-draw wildcard.
