Ketel Marte Leads Diamondbacks Contingent in WBC Quarterfinals
The World Baseball Classic (WBC) has reached the quarterfinal stage, and several Arizona Diamondbacks players are still in contention for the championship. Leading the charge is Ketel Marte, who has been a standout performer for the Dominican Republic, showcasing his offensive prowess against some of the best pitchers in the world.
Marte’s Dominant Performance
Marte recently delivered a powerful performance against Venezuela, launching a home run off his Diamondbacks teammate, Eduardo Rodriguez. This display of hitting strength has solidified his position as a key player for the Dominican Republic. Currently, Marte is batting 3-for-12 with six runs, three RBIs, and four walks, consistently delivering from the No. 2 spot in a formidable lineup featuring stars like Fernando Tatis Jr. and Juan Soto.

Soroka feels confident, stating, “It’ll be a little more of a chess match. I’m looking forward to it. I feel really good.”
Nolan Arenado has been a defensive wizard for Puerto Rico, making spectacular plays at third base. While his offensive numbers haven’t been as prominent (3-for-14), his glovework has been a highlight. Check out this incredible defensive play! and another one!
Players Returning to Spring Training
As teams are eliminated, players are beginning to return to Diamondbacks spring training. Those returning include Alek Thomas, Druw Jones, Kristian Robinson, Yu-Min Lin, and Jaitoine Kelly. This influx of talent will bolster the D-backs as they prepare for the upcoming MLB season.
The World Baseball Classic continues to deliver exciting baseball, and Arizona Diamondbacks fans have plenty of reasons to tune in and support their players on the international stage.
