Jenson Brooksby: Expert Tennis Picks & Analysis for Dubai, Acapulco & Merida

Top Tennis Bets for Tuesday: Dubai, Acapulco, and Merida

The ATP and WTA Tours are in full swing as we approach the 2026 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, often considered the “fifth Slam.” Before Indian Wells, exciting 500-level events are unfolding in Dubai and Acapulco for the men, while Santiago (250) also features. The women are competing in Merida (500) and Austin (250). Here are my top tennis best bets for Tuesday, February 24th.

Carreno Busta vs. Shapovalov: A Tactical Battle

Shapovalov is coming off a strong run in Dallas, reaching the semifinals after winning the event last year. His current form is impressive. However, Carreno Busta has also won four of his last five matches, earning wins over Botic van de Zandschulp and Luca Nardi in qualifying.

Carreno Busta presents a difficult matchup for Shapovalov. He’s a skilled counter-puncher with a high tennis IQ. While not at his peak, he still possesses the ability to extend rallies, particularly with his solid backhand against Shapovalov’s forehand. His forehand can also exploit Shapovalov’s one-handed backhand.

Historically, Carreno Busta has a favorable record against left-handed players (51-38 at the tour level, excluding losses to Rafael Nadal). He also holds a 5-2 head-to-head advantage over Shapovalov, including a 5-1 record on hard courts.

Bet: Carreno Busta +1.5 Sets (-161 – 1.5 units) & Carreno Busta ML (+200 – 0.5 units)

Bergs vs. Jenson Brooksby: Contrasting Styles

Bergs, while showing improvement, remains inconsistent with his aggressive playing style. He aims to finish points quickly, leading to fluctuations in performance. In contrast, Jenson Brooksby is a counter-puncher and grinder, focused on extending rallies and wearing down opponents. He excels at getting shots back in play, potentially frustrating Bergs.

Brooksby’s variety makes it difficult for opponents to establish a rhythm, potentially leaving Bergs uncomfortable. The key for Brooksby is improving his serve, currently at a 74.1% hold rate with a 2.4% ace rate – numbers that need improvement for a player aiming for the top-50. However, there’s potential for positive regression.

Bet: Brooksby ML (-114)

Griekspoor vs. Virtanen: An Upset Opportunity

Griekspoor is struggling this season (3-7) and dealing with minor injuries. His serve, usually a weapon, hasn’t been reliable, and his aggressive baseline play is off. This creates an opportunity for an upset.

Virtanen is playing better than his ranking suggests. He’s a dangerous all-courter with a solid serve and is regaining form. He finished 2025 strongly and enters this match on a four-match winning streak, having defeated Aleksandar Vukic and Jan Lennard Struff in qualifying – both serve-heavy players like Griekspoor.

Bet: Virtanen ML (+115)
