Gabriel Diallo Secures First ATP Win in Months
Gabriel Diallo, representing Canada, achieved a significant milestone with a hard-fought victory over Italy’s Mattia Bellucci. The 24-year-old from Montreal, currently ranked No. 38 globally, defeated the 94th-ranked Bellucci 7-6 (5), 6-4 in a compelling men’s singles match. This win marks Diallo’s first on the ATP Tour in nearly two months, breaking a streak of first-round exits in his previous four tournaments.
Diallo showcased a strong serving performance, delivering 10 aces and minimizing errors with only one double fault. His consistent play and ability to capitalize on key moments proved crucial in securing the win.
Denis Shapovalov Triumphs Over Tsitsipas
Denis Shapovalov, hailing from Richmond Hill, Ontario, delivered a stunning performance against Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Despite firing 12 aces, Andreescu struggled with double faults and first-serve percentage. Marina Stakusic of Mississauga, Ontario, also exited the tournament, losing 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 to Austria’s Anastasia Potapova.
