Master Your Lineup: Analyzing the CFL Schedule for Fantasy Success

When it comes to dominating your fantasy league, keeping a close eye on the CFL schedule is the secret weapon of every pro manager. Matchups dictate production, and this week presents some golden opportunities to capitalize on defensive weaknesses and offensive surges.

We’ve revamped our CFL Fantasy presented by theScore Bet coverage. To give you the competitive edge, we are now ranking the top five pivots and running backs, the top 12 receivers, and the top five defenses and kickers. Plus, we’ve introduced an “Under the Radar” section to help you find those diamond-in-the-rough players who can swing a week in your favour.

Ready to optimize? Let’s dive into the rankings.

quarterbacks: The Pivot Powerhouse

Choosing the right QB often comes down to stability and matchup efficiency. While Chad Kelly is a high-ceiling play, his tendency for turnovers keeps him slightly lower in our rankings.

  • Vernon Adams Jr.: An absolute machine. He has thrown zero interceptions in 145 attempts and is coming off a hot streak with 13 majors in three games.
  • Nathan Rourke: Expect a massive run here. With the Lions finally finding the win column, Rourke is primed for a breakout.
  • Davis Alexander: The consistency king, posting 301+ yards in each of his last five games. Against Calgary’s struggling defense, he’s due for a multi-touchdown performance.

Under the Radar: Keep an eye on Dru Brown. If the Blue Bombers start him to rest Zach Collaros, he’s a fantastic play against an Ottawa defense that has been leaky with touchdown drives.

Running Backs: The Ground Game

The battle for yardage is heating up. The current CFL official standings and schedules show some enticing matchups for the league’s top rushers.

  • Justin Rankin: He is on a historic quest for the league’s first 1,000/1,000 season, averaging a staggering 162.2 scrimmage yards per game.
  • James Butler: A nightmare for Edmonton; he recently mauled them for 162 yards and two majors. He is a must-start for the next few weeks.
  • Brady Oliveira: Always a threat. Despite some practice limitations, his ability to find the end zone against the REDBLACKS makes him a high-value asset.
  • Travis Theis: The rising star in Montreal. He’s scored in three straight games and fits perfectly into their high-octane passing attack.

Under the Radar: Samuel Hicks (Toronto) is a sleeper. With 10 carries of 10+ yards, he’s a great Flex option against Ottawa.

Receivers: The Aerial Attack

If you have Toronto Argos players, start them all. The offense is firing on all cylinders.

  • Tyson Philpot: Playing at a video-game level, Philpot is on pace for over 2,500 receiving yards. He is the gold standard for fantasy receivers right now.
  • Tyler Snead: Leading the league in depth yards (764) and big plays.
  • Keon Hatcher Sr. & Justin Hardy: Both are trending upward and are overdue for major scores, especially against the Elks.
  • Tevin Jones: The league’s premiere deep threat, averaging an incredible 20 yards per reception.

Under the Radar: Jermaine Jackson is becoming a vital piece of the BC passing game. He might not be a top-tier name yet, but he deserves a roster spot.

Defenses & Kickers: The Final Touch

Don’t overlook the specialists. The Edmonton defense is the top choice this week, leading the league with 16 forced turnovers. The Blue Bombers are also a strong play against the turnover-prone REDBLACKS.

For kickers, Sergio Castillo is the volume play with 17 field goal attempts. However, Vincent Blanchard and Brett Lauther offer incredible accuracy, with Lauther being the primary scoring engine for Ottawa.
