2026 NFL Draft: A Whirlwind of Predictions and Potential Trades
Hello, draft enthusiasts! As we approach the 2026 NFL Draft, the speculation is reaching fever pitch. While mock drafts are becoming commonplace, I wanted to inject some excitement with a few bold trade predictions that could dramatically reshape the top 10 picks – and even see a second quarterback emerge in the first round!
Are you ready for a draft that’s anything but predictable? Let’s dive in.
Note: NFL Network and NFL+ will provide live coverage of the 2026 NFL Draft from April 23-25. I’ll be enjoying the draft with family and friends in Miami, eagerly awaiting the moment Commissioner Roger Goodell announces the first pick.
Round 1 Predictions: Shaking Up the Order
1. Las Vegas Raiders – Caleb Williams (QB, USC)
Frankly, this selection feels almost preordained. For months, everyone has envisioned the reigning Heisman Trophy winner donning the silver and black. Raiders fans, let’s skip the pretense and get straight to the drama!
2. New York Jets – Dallas Turner (Edge, Alabama)
The Jets are at a crossroads, needing to bolster their pass rush. While quarterbacks are tempting, Turner offers a more immediate impact. He’s a developmental player as an edge rusher, and the Jets are in a developmental state as a franchise, so it’s sensible to believe New York could pass on the more polished QB hunters in favor of the raw hybrid with wildly enticing upside.
3. Dallas Cowboys (via Trade with Chicago) – Laiatu Latu (Edge, UCLA)
Projected Trade: The Cowboys trade picks #12 and #20 to the Chicago Bears for pick #3.
Jerry Jones has openly considered trading up, and acquiring Latu, last season’s FBS co-leader in sacks, makes perfect sense. This move allows the Cowboys to address a critical need and resets the board for other teams.
4. Tennessee Titans – Sonny Styles (LB, Ohio State)
Robert Saleh, now leading the Titans, knows a thing or two about elite linebackers, having coached Fred Warner. Styles, while not Warner 2.0, possesses the athleticism and potential to become a dominant force in the middle of the Titans’ defense.
5. New York Giants – Jeremiyah Love (RB, Southern California)
John Harbaugh, the Giants’ new head coach, believes in taking the best player available. Love is universally regarded as one of the draft’s top prospects. Despite not having a dire need at running back, the Giants might be swayed by Love’s talent, especially considering Cam Skattebo’s recent injury.
6. Cleveland Browns (via Trade with Kansas City) – Rueben Bain Jr. (DT, Alabama)
Projected Trade: The Browns trade pick #74 to the Kansas City Chiefs for pick #6.
Despite previously drafting a pass rusher with questionable measurements, the Chiefs don’t seem deterred by shorter arms on the defensive front. Bain’s disruptive potential is too good to pass up, and this trade allows Kansas City to add a key piece to their defense.
7. Washington Commanders – Cooper DeJean (S, Iowa)
If players were drafted solely on game tape, DeJean would be a top-five pick. The Commanders need to overhaul their defense, and DeJean’s versatility and playmaking ability make him an ideal fit.
8. New Orleans Saints – Kool Aid (CB, LSU)
LSU has a rich tradition of producing NFL cornerbacks, and the Saints haven’t drafted one in decades. Kool Aid’s talent and potential could finally break that streak.
9. Chicago Bears (via Trade with Dallas) – JC Latham (OT, Alabama)
Projected Trade: The Bears trade pick #3 to the Dallas Cowboys for picks #12 and #20.
Moving down three spots, picking up a fifth top-75 selection and still getting their pick of the WR litter? What a dream scenario for the Browns. Tate stays in the Buckeye State, giving Cleveland a much-needed boost to a receiver room that didn’t produce a single 100-yard game last season.
10. Los Angeles Rams – Rome Odunze (WR, Washington)
With the top three pass rushers off the board, the Bengals turn to pass coverage. McCoy’s evaluation is muddied by the fact that he didn’t play a snap in 2025 while recovering from a torn ACL, but the 2024 tape’s impressive, and the reported 4.38-second 40-yard dash at his pro-day workout doesn’t hurt.
Further Rounds & Key Players to Watch
The draft extends far beyond the first round, with numerous talented players poised to make an impact. Keep an eye on prospects like Kenyon Sadiq, a versatile tight end, and Tyson Campbell, a Thursday night talent with the potential to become a cornerstone player.
Stay tuned for further updates and analysis as we get closer to the 2026 NFL Draft!
