
Shediac Inmate Escape: Manhunt Underway in New Brunswick
Residents of Shediac, New Brunswick, and the surrounding Greater Moncton area are being urged to exercise caution following the escape of an inmate from the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre. An Alert Ready alert was issued province-wide, advising against picking up hitchhikers and remaining vigilant.
Details of the Escape
Todd John Lewis, 35, escaped the facility at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Thursday by reportedly “jumping the fence.” According to the RCMP, Lewis was previously facing charges related to weapon offences. The RCMP were notified of the escape at 12:28 a.m. on Friday and immediately initiated patrols, but were unable to locate him.
Suspect Description
Lewis is described as:
- Height: Approximately five feet seven inches
- Weight: Around 146 pounds
- Hair: Blond
- Eyes: Blue
- Last Seen Wearing: Blue pants, a brown coat, and a black bonnet
Authorities believe Lewis may still be in the Greater Moncton area. The public is strongly advised not to approach him as he may be armed and dangerous.
