
SEPTA Service Disruption: Market-Frankford Line Affected by Transformer Issue
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Commuters faced significant delays on Wednesday afternoon as a blown transformer caused major disruptions to service on SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line. The incident, which began around 3:00 PM, centered around the 15th Street/City Hall Station.
Eyewitnesses and Chopper 6 aerial footage showed smoke emanating from the station entrance, prompting a swift response from SEPTA personnel. Fortunately, as of this report, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Service Adjustments & Alternative Transportation
To accommodate affected passengers, SEPTA has implemented the following service changes:
- Market-Frankford Line: Shuttle buses are currently operating in place of trains between Spring Garden Station and 30th Street Station. Passengers are advised to allow for significant extra travel time.
- Broad Street Line: Trains are continuing to run, but are bypassing the City Hall Station until further notice.
