Alectra Power Outage Impacts Waterdown, Restoration Expected by 7 p.m.

Waterdown residents are experiencing a significant power outage today, with full restoration currently estimated by Alectra Utilities for 7 p.m. this evening. The outage, initially triggered by a downed power line just before 10 a.m. on Friday, initially affected approximately 4,462 homes and businesses in the Waterdown and Dundas areas.

Outage Details & Restoration Progress

According to Alectra spokesperson Ashley Trgachef, crews have been working diligently to restore power. As of early afternoon, power had been successfully restored to the majority of affected customers. However, approximately 356 homes and businesses in the vicinity of Dundas Street East, Highway 6, and York Road remain without electricity.

Alectra Utilities provided updates via their X (formerly Twitter) account, @alectranews, and their outage map at alectrautilities.com. These resources are the best source for the most current information.

Business Impacts & Safety Reminders

The power outage has forced some local businesses to temporarily close their doors. Tea At The White House announced closures on Facebook, while Kamoosh Bistro, though initially affected during lunch service, confirmed they were back online and open for dinner.

Safety is paramount. Alectra Utilities urges all residents to stay at least 10 metres (approximately 33 feet) away from any downed power lines. Never approach or touch a downed wire, and immediately report it to Alectra or emergency services.
