Shocking Arrest in San Antonio: Elementary Teacher Charged with Child Sexual Assault
The community of San Antonio is in shock following the arrest of a local elementary school educator. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that Cecilia Mueller, 46, was taken into custody and charged with the continuous sexual assault of a child, marking a distressing chapter for the local school district.
The Details of the Investigation
According to court documents and an affidavit, the alleged crimes did not occur recently. Instead, the abuse reportedly took place approximately ten years ago while Mueller was employed at Lewis Elementary School. The victim, who is now an adult, demonstrated immense courage by coming forward to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) last Tuesday to report the multiple incidents of assault.
Records from the Bexar County jail indicate that Mueller was arrested on Monday. This case serves as a grim reminder of the importance of child advocacy and the long-term impact of trauma on survivors.
Impact on Northside Independent School District (NISD)
A spokesperson for the Northside Independent School District (NISD) confirmed that Mueller had a long tenure at Lewis Elementary, where she worked for nearly 12 years until June 2019. However, the situation became current news because Mueller is currently employed as a teacher at Henderson Elementary School.
In response to the arrest, NISD Employee Relations has officially placed Mueller on leave. The district has stated that they are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation led by the SAPD.
Community Response and School Safety
Lillyana Hinojosa, the Principal of Henderson Elementary, issued a heartfelt letter to families to maintain transparency and ensure the community’s peace of mind. In her communication, Hinojosa emphasized:
