San Diego Weather Today: February 11, 2026 – Stormy Conditions & Traffic Alerts

San Diego is experiencing a wet Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as a low-pressure system moves through, bringing showers, the possibility of thunderstorms, and gusty winds. NBC 7’s Sheena Parveen provides the latest updates and forecast.

Morning Commute Disrupted by Rainfall

Widespread rain during Wednesday’s morning commute led to numerous spinouts and traffic crashes across San Diego County. A significant incident near Oceanside involved a semi-truck, causing a temporary closure of northbound Interstate 5. The saturated roads are contributing to hazardous driving conditions.

“There are a lot of accidents in North County because we’ve had so much rain already, that’s moved through, so the roads are wet,” explained NBC 7 Meteorologist Sheena Parveen. “Either way this is falling at a bad time of the day because it’s right during the morning commute.”

Storm Details & Forecast

The bulk of the storm is expected to impact the region during the morning hours, with conditions becoming drier but remaining chilly for the remainder of the day. The National Weather Service anticipates wind gusts between 45-55 mph, with some areas potentially experiencing gusts up to 65 mph.

Rainfall totals are projected to be around a quarter-inch, though some locations may receive up to a half-inch or more. A slight chance of a lingering shower remains for Thursday, with continued moisture in the air.

Looking Ahead: Weekend & Next Week

The good news? Friday and the weekend currently look dry with seasonable temperatures, though slightly cooler than recent days. However, some computer models suggest a slight chance of rain on Sunday, while others predict dry conditions until Monday.

Looking further ahead, next week’s storm system appears to be cooler, potentially bringing more rain to Southern California and even the possibility of wintry weather in the mountains. Stay tuned to NBC 7 for the latest updates.
