The massive vessel, headed for New Jersey, has encountered a delay following a critical medical situation involving two passengers in the Bahamas.
Urgent Evacuations in Nassau
On Friday afternoon, while the ship was docked in Nassau, the captain announced that two guests—including a 7-year-old child—were in critical condition. Due to the severity of their health status, the ship’s medical team determined that urgent shoreside care was necessary. Both individuals were successfully evacuated and rushed to local hospitals on the island shortly after 1 p.m.
In a reassuring letter shared with those on board, Royal Caribbean clarified that the illnesses were not contagious, ensuring that other passengers were not at risk of falling ill.
Impact on the Return Schedule
Because of the time required for these emergency medical procedures, the arrival of the Oasis of the Seas at its home port in Cape Liberty, Bayonne, has been pushed back. The ship is now expected to dock around 2 p.m. on Sunday, approximately eight hours behind its original schedule.
