Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident
SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 35-year-old woman, identified as Darlene Ibarra, tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in the 1500 block of Bandera Road. The incident occurred while Ms. Ibarra was advertising with a sign on the Northwest Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
Details of the Accident
Preliminary reports from SAPD indicate that an Uber driver, traveling southbound on East Quill Drive, attempted a westbound turn onto Bandera Road. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, mounting the sidewalk and striking Ms. Ibarra, who was standing on the corner. Authorities at the scene stated the driver accidentally accelerated during the turn.
Emergency responders pronounced Ms. Ibarra dead at the scene. She was reportedly advertising on the curb with a sign at the time of the collision.
Investigation and Legal Ramifications
The SAPD is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. As of Sunday, March 15, 2026, the rideshare driver is cooperating with authorities and is not expected to face criminal charges. However, this does not preclude the possibility of a civil lawsuit.
