Northwestern University Launches “Hop Around Evanston” Shuttle Service
Northwestern University is excited to announce a new, free shuttle service designed to connect students, faculty, staff, Evanston residents, and visitors with the best the city has to offer this spring. From April 4th to June 20th, every Saturday evening, you can hop on board and explore the vibrant culture and thriving businesses of Evanston, Illinois.
What Does “Hop Around Evanston” Offer?
This pilot program, sponsored by Northwestern University and co-hosted with the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, provides convenient access to key areas within Evanston. Riders can easily reach popular destinations like the restaurants and pubs along Central Street and Main Street, as well as iconic landmarks such as the Grosse Point Lighthouse and the serene Ladd Arboretum and Evanston Ecology Center. It’s a fantastic way to experience all that Evanston has to offer!
Shuttle Route Details
The shuttle utilizes Northwestern’s environmentally friendly hybrid electric bus fleet and follows a comprehensive loop. The route extends:
- North to Central Street
- South to Howard Street
- East to Chicago Avenue
- West to Dodge Avenue
This extensive coverage ensures easy access to a wide range of attractions and businesses.
Who Can Ride?
Everyone is welcome! According to EL Da’ Sheon Nix, Director of Community Relations at Northwestern, “Whether you’re a student, employee, resident, or visitor – all are welcome.” This initiative aims to foster a stronger connection between the University and the Evanston community.
“Now that warmer weather has returned, this is a great opportunity to get out and explore, check out a small business or grab a meal in one of Evanston’s many great neighborhoods,” Nix added.
