Nancy Guthrie Case: New Leads Emerge with Claims of Sighting in Mexico
The Nancy Guthrie cold case has seen a potential breakthrough with the emergence of two new notes from an anonymous source claiming to possess crucial information about the kidnappers. These notes, received by TMZ, offer a specific location – the state of Sonora, Mexico – where the source alleges to have seen Guthrie.
The first note arrived on Monday, coinciding with Savannah Guthrie’s return to “TODAY.” The sender, who has been contacting authorities for nearly two months, reiterates their demand of 1 Bitcoin for delivering the kidnappers “on a silver platter.” Shortly after, a second letter surfaced, stating: “I Saw her alive with them in the state of Sonora Mexico.”
Sonora, Mexico: A Key Location?
Sonora is a large Mexican state directly bordering Arizona and New Mexico. Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1st, approximately 70 miles from the border. However, the sender’s initial message casts a grim shadow, stating, “she is dead.”
FBI Skepticism and Bitcoin Demands
The FBI has received the first note but appears unconvinced of its legitimacy, as no Bitcoin deposit has been made to the address provided by the sender – an account created back in February. The sender, sensing the FBI’s doubt, expressed frustration, stating, “It’s unbelievable that millions have been wasted and yet here I am willing to deliver them on a silver platter since the 11th of february for a bitcoin but I am disregarded as a scam… they are free and the case is frozen but the ego’s remain hot when it comes to me. Arrogance at it’s finest.”
With Bitcoin’s value fluctuating, the sender has lowered their demand to half a Bitcoin upfront, with the remaining half to be transferred upon the public arrest of the kidnappers. They also vehemently deny any involvement in the kidnapping, claiming to have been outside the U.S. for over five years.
A Plea for Peace and a Fresh Start
In the second note, the sender clarifies their motivations, stating they are not driven by greed but seek “what’s fair” and a chance to rebuild their life peacefully, without the need for witness protection. They express a desire to simply start anew with enough funds to do so.
This case continues to unfold, and the validity of these claims remains under investigation. The FBI is urged to consider all leads, even those presented with unconventional demands.
