The investigation led them to nearby Brentwood Park, where the body of 26-year-old Jorge Zelaya was discovered. Despite exhaustive efforts by homicide detectives—including numerous interviews with residents and associates of the victim—no suspect was identified at the time. For years, the case remained an open wound for the family and a mystery for the city of Raleigh.
