Want a more personalized Google News experience? Google has launched a new feature allowing you to prioritize the news sources you value most. This means you can actively shape your search results and see more content from the publishers you trust.
What are ‘Preferred Sources’?
The ‘Preferred Sources’ feature gives you the power to customize your Google Search and News results. By selecting your preferred publishers, you’ll see their articles appear more frequently in Google Top Stories and standard Search results. This ensures you’re getting the news that matters to *you*, from sources you deem reliable.
Why Prioritize RNZ?
As New Zealand’s independent, non-commercial public media organization, Radio New Zealand (RNZ) has been serving Kiwis for over a century. RNZ provides a platform for important topics, delivering a diverse range of content that reflects New Zealand’s identity. Supporting RNZ through Google’s Preferred Sources means supporting quality, independent journalism.
How to Add RNZ as a Preferred Source
It’s incredibly easy to add RNZ (or any other publisher) to your Preferred Sources list:
- Click here to access the Google Preferred Sources tool.
- Type “RNZ” into the search box.
- Tick the box next to rnz.co.nz.
- That’s it! You’re all set.
Once you’ve selected your sources, you’ll notice them appearing more often and prominently in Google Top Stories or a dedicated “From your sources” section within your Search results. This feature is designed to enhance your news consumption and ensure you’re informed by the voices you choose.
