
Investigation Update: Person of Interest Identified in Edmonton Child Luring Case
The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has announced a significant breakthrough in a recent investigation involving an alleged child luring attempt. Authorities have confirmed that a person of interest has been identified, although the investigation remains active as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Incident: What Happened on June 14?
The disturbing event took place around 8:00 p.m. on June 14 in the city’s southwest region. According to reports shared by Global News Edmonton, two 14-year-old girls were walking near the intersection of 18A Avenue S.W. and Rutherford Road S.W. when they were targeted by a group of men.
Witnesses and police reports describe a scene of high tension and danger:

- The Vehicle: A grey Chrysler Pacifica van with heavily tinted windows.
- The Suspects: Approximately five to six males, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old.
- The Behavior: The vehicle was driven erratically with the side door open, and the occupants were shouting at the girls in an attempt to lure them into the van.
A Terrifying Encounter for Local Families
The gravity of the situation was highlighted by the parents of one of the victims. They recounted a terrifying moment when the van drove past the girls, performed a U-turn, and began driving back toward them. This aggressive maneuver caused the girls to fear for their immediate safety, leading them to scream for help.
Fortunately, a nearby woman witnessed the event and contacted 911 immediately. The girls were able to flee the scene safely before the vehicle quickly sped away.
Police Action and Public Appeal
Following the incident, police released photos of two vehicles—the primary grey van and a secondary silver vehicle suspected of being involved. On Sunday, investigators confirmed via email that the person of interest linked to the second vehicle has been identified.
