Powerful Tornado Leaves Trail of Destruction Across Oklahoma
A violent tornado ripped through parts of Oklahoma this past Thursday, causing significant damage and leaving a community in shock. The storm, which hit the town of Enid—a community of approximately 50,000 residents—resulted in multiple injuries and the widespread destruction of infrastructure.
According to reports from the National Weather Service, the tornado’s path was marked by chaotic winds that leveled homes and knocked down power poles, plunging many residents into darkness.
Impact on Enid and Vance Air Force Base
The devastation in Enid was visible in harrowing video footage, showing spinning columns of air and residential areas completely demolished. While the structural damage was severe, the Garfield County Sheriff’s office confirmed that, miraculously, no fatalities were reported, with most injuries being classified as minor.
The storm’s impact extended to the Vance Air Force Base, located roughly 129 kilometres north of Oklahoma City. The base was forced to shut down operations temporarily due to:

“The support of our community has been remarkable. Local businesses have offered equipment and manpower, residents have opened their doors, and donations are already pouring in,” stated Mayor Mason.

The danger is not yet over. The National Weather Service in Norman has warned that additional storms could persist through Friday night across south-central and southeastern Oklahoma. Furthermore, residents in the Enid region should remain vigilant, as severe to very severe thunderstorms are forecasted to develop this Saturday.
